The day started perfect. A wonderful cup of coffee. The sun on my face. My day off. It’s heaven on earth, as the birds sang a merry melody. Music to my ears. Then it began. My neighbor Tom ran into a little trouble and asked for a hand.
“Hey Jack, ya busy?”
“What now?”
“The mower won’t start.”
“You realize it’s my day off, right?”
“I know, just this one last time.”
“Fine. One more time, and that’s it. You’ll never ask again.”
“I promise, I’ll never ask for your help again.”
You’re right, you won’t. I hopped the fence and headed over. The first thing I noticed, the red beast was empty like the scorched earth. Typical Tom fashion. Here I’m ready to relax on my day off and like clockwork, he intrudes. It’s the last time I’ll ever help this prick.
